MUIは、老荘思想の
「無為自然」に由来するブランドです。
無為とは、
何もしないことではなく、
余計なものを削ぎ落とし、
本来あるべき姿へ還ること。

自然の静けさに包まれたとき。
私たちはふと、
肩の力が抜け、本来の感性を取り戻します。

インスピレーションを形にするブランドです。
The Symbol
MUIのシンボルは、五つの光を表す菱。
その形は、日本の伝統文様「七宝」の
中心に現れる意匠から生まれました。
七宝は、途切れることのない円が重なり合い、
調和、繁栄、そして人とのつながりを象徴する文様です。
五という数字は、
中心、均衡、そして完全な調和を意味します。
自然と人。
心と身体。
過去と未来。
あらゆるものが静かに調和することへの願いを、
この小さなシンボルに込めました。
Semamori
日本には古くから、
「背守り」と呼ばれる文化があります。
幼い子どもの着物の背中には、
小さな刺繍や印が施されることがありました。
背中は自分では見ることのできない場所。
そして、魂が出入りする場所
とも考えられていたことから、
子どもの健やかな成長を願い、
災いから身を守るためのお守りとして
刺繍が縫われていたとされています。
その一針一針には、目には見えないものを大切にする、
日本ならではの美意識が息づいています。
MUIは、この背守りの思想に深く共感しています。
服は、ただ身にまとうものではなく、

MUI draws its inspiration
from the Taoist principle of Wu Wei Zi Ran.
Wu Wei is not about doing nothing.
It is about removing what is unnecessary,
so that everything may return to its natural state.
When music touches your soul.

We remember something essential.
MUI is a brand that gives form to the inspiration
born from these quiet moments of connection.
The Symbol
The MUI symbol features
a diamond motif representing five points of light.
Its form is inspired
by the central motif at the heart
of the traditional Japanese Shippo pattern.
Shippo is made up of endlessly overlapping circles,
symbolizing harmony, prosperity,
and the connections between people.
In Japanese thought,
the number five represents
the center, balance, and harmony.
Nature and humanity.
Mind and body.
Past and future.
This small symbol carries our hope
for a world where all things exist in quiet harmony.
Semamori
In Japan, there is a long-standing tradition
known as Semamori.
Small stitches or embroidered symbols
were once sewn onto the back of children's kimono.
The back is a place we cannot see ourselves.
It was also traditionally believed to be
where the soul enters and leaves the body.
These stitches were sewn as protective charms,
carrying wishes for a child's health, safety,
and peaceful growth.
Every stitch reflects a uniquely Japanese sensibility—
one that values the invisible as deeply as the visible.
MUI finds deep inspiration in this tradition.
We believe clothing should be
